Nintendo Project Cafe and E3 Buzz Way Up Before The Show
Nintendo is gearing up to unveil its new console at E3 next Tuesday, and that appears to be driving interest much higher in the Expo than in previous years, according to Nielsen. The research firm evaluated blogs, message boards, Twitter and other media and found buzz for E3 in general to be up 59% with Nintendo's Project Cafe accounting for about 22% of the discussion.

Additionally, purchase interest in a new Nintendo console is fairly strong, given that Nintendo has said absolutely nothing about the Wii successor yet. Nielsen reported that 27% of gamers would buy a new Nintendo console within six months of release. That said, purchase interest was nearly equal for new machines from Sony and Microsoft - and the odds are strong that we won't be hearing anything about new consoles from either of those companies for another year or more.
