Sony Shares Additional Details on PS2 Releases for PSN

Sony has just announced their ‘Only on PlayStation Network’ program that will launch on October 4th. This service will highlight upcoming PSN exclusives, which include upcoming PSN titles inFamous: Festival of Blood and PixelJunk Sidescroller. The complete release schedule looks like this:
October 4th: Eufloria & Rochard
October 11th: Sideway: New York
October 13th: Sodium Collection
October 18th: Okabu & RocketBirds: Hardboiled Chicken
October 25th: inFamous: Festival of Blood & PixelJunk Sidescroller
To the surprise of many, ‘Only on PSN’ will also introduce the release of a handful of PS2 titles over PSN. Those titles will be available starting tomorrow and include: God Hand, GrimGrimoire, Maximo: Ghosts to Glory, Odin Sphere and Ring of Red. All PS Plus members will receive a 20% discount on each ‘Only on PSN’ release during their launch week.
Sony has shared additional details on the state of the PS2 releases and whether they are straight PS2 ports or if they’ll come with bonus features – Trophy support, etc. Sony’s Morgan Haro shared the following statement:
“The PS2 games are in their original form. These aren’t remasters, and therefore won’t have Trophy support. But they retain their original gameplay, look, and charm through and through.”
Also, to be clear, these PS2 => PSN releases do not mean PS2 BC is back. When asked whether it means you can play these games with their disc on PS3, Morgan shared:
"No, these are PS2 titles that will be available from the PlayStation Store starting 10/4."
